Abstract:

This study aims to explain the role of job satisfaction in mediating the effect of job stress and competence on work engagement. This research was conducted at the Culture Office of Badung Regency with a sample of 153 respondents. Determination of the sample using a saturated sample. The analysis technique used is Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with Partial Least Square (PLS) analysis technique. The results showed that all research hypotheses were accepted. The results of this study indicate that job stress has a negative and significant effect on work engagement, while competence and job satisfaction have a positive and significant effect on work engagement. This study is also able to prove that job satisfaction is able to mediate the effect of job stress and competence on work engagement. Thus, management should pay more attention to job satisfaction of employees at the Badung Regency Culture Service.
